| homework problems | 20% | Each of 12 problem sets is due on the dates indicated on the
lecture schedule below. These problems cannot be handed in at a later time since they will
be graded and handed back at the next period. The best 10 scores on these
12 sets will be used to determine the final
grade for this portion of the course for a maximum possible 100 points

| Total | For Biology 4260: 500 points For Biology 5260: 600 points since an extra project worth 100 points will be required.

Doing the homework problems is particularly important because they will be representative of what you might expect to find on the tests themselves. In addition, since much of population genetics involves problem solving, it is important that all students be able to work relevant problems. It is perfectly OK to get together with other students to work on these problem sets, and in fact I encourage this.
