Biology Portfolio

The Biology Portfolio is a semester long project that culminates in a collection of assignments that can provide extra credit (up to 3 points) to your overall course average.  This project is completely optional and provides you an opportunity to apply the information you have learned in lecture to some "real world" assignments while boosting you grade (possibly one letter grade) at the end of the semester.

Where can I find more details?:

Handout on what a portfolio is and why you should complete one (also in your lecture manual!)

When is it due?:

All Portfolio's are due the last day of class, December 9th.

Contents of the Portfolio:

1)  The Biology Journal
2)  Your choice of 3 Written Assignments
3)  Final Reflection on your performance in the course (this can be completed after Exam 3)

*Please note that some assignments will require you to obtain information from outside sources.  You must credit your sources using in-text citations and a works cited page.  Failure to do this is considered plagiarism and is subject to the penalties outlined in the Code of Academic Integrity.

Final Note!:  Yes, this is a substantial project, but not difficult to complete if you pace yourself over the course of the semester.  A suggestion is to aim for completing at least one written assignment a month and one journal article a week.
