Worker honey bees perform the vibration signal on drones (left panel; indicated by red arrows), which consists of a worker rapidly vibrating its body dorso-ventrally while grasping a recipient.  Drones respond to the signal with increased amounts of time receiving regurgitated food from workers (right panel), which may promote their sexual maturation and mating success.  From the undergraduate Honors research of Marina Boucher (in press in Animal Behaviour and selected as a featured “In Focus” article for the August 2009 issue).
